The second camping weekend of the year was a great success, bringing together a fantastic group of participants and dedicated staff for a truly memorable outdoor adventure. Set against the backdrop of the beautiful Murray River, the trip was all about connection, teamwork, and the simple joys of camping.
The group Laurie Norgate, Shakaya Griffith-Roberts, Sean O’Connor, Cameron Allert, and Tori Hehir were supported by staff members Rod Bedford, Trevor Cook, and Katherine Frost. Together, they created a warm, inclusive, and fun atmosphere that made the weekend one to remember.
Everyone brought something unique to the experience. Cameron embraced the role of fire monitor, carefully tending the flames and ensuring everyone stayed warm and cosy. He also enjoyed long walks through the bush, some peaceful time fishing, and chatting with others while soaking in the relaxed vibe of the weekend.
Shakaya was the life of the campfire circle, bringing infectious energy and plenty of laughs. Whether sharing stories, relaxing by the fire, or simply enjoying the fresh air, Shakaya made the most of every moment like she always does.
Laurie was a key contributor to camp life, lending a hand with everything from collecting firewood to cooking meals and helping others set up their swags. Laurie’s helpful spirit and calm presence helped things run smoothly throughout the weekend.
Sean was also a hands-on contributor, helping with setting up the campsite, gathering firewood, and joining in group walks. He enjoyed the sense of camaraderie that naturally unfolded throughout the trip.
Tori was a welcome part of the group, connecting with others and enjoying the break from the everyday routine.
The weekend was a great example of how nature, shared responsibility, and a supportive group can come together to create something really special. From shared meals to campfire conversations, it was a chance for everyone to slow down, connect, and enjoy a few days of outdoor living.
We’re already looking forward to the next one!
