STUDENT PLACeMENT AND VOLUNTEERING

PALS prides its self on making sure students are work ready when they finish their chosen study… contact us if you need to complete your work placement.

Retired and still looking to contribute to your community?… becoming a volunteer with PALS is a great way to do just that… we have endless opportunities for you to get involved and where you may even be able to share your passion with others.

As a student or volunteer, you can apply for a fee waiver for the compulsory

NDIS Worker Screening Check.

Disability Support Worker

 We are currently seeking experienced disability support workers for casual & part-time positions within our organization.

No experience?… we have an extensive on the job training process and if eligible we may be able to support you in completing a formal qualification by ways of a traineeship with PALS.

Formal qualifications in Disability or Community Services (Certificate IV) are an advantage however we will consider individuals with a current First Aid certificate (Level2), NDIS Worker Screening Check, Working With Children’s Check and Drivers Licence. The role involves working shifts, weekends and may include sleepovers.

As Team Leader of Gorman House, you will lead a team of enthusiastic caring staff to provide enjoyable and relaxing short term stays for people who live with a disability in the beautiful lakeside town of Yarrawonga.

Leadership and Service Excellence

Reporting to the Client Services Manager you will be a key member of our management team providing individualized services that meet customer’s needs. You will develop and provide quality services, support plans / service agreements, monitor incident reports, liaise with parents/carers and coordinate rosters.

Quality Assurance, Risk and Compliance

You will ensure compliance with Legislation, NDIS requirements and Organisational policies & procedures.  You will ensure all areas under your control comply with Workplace Health & Safety Regulations and put in place strategies to manage identified risks safely, by minimising or eliminating the risks.

Work Ethic

You will have a kind and caring nature, possess a positive attitude, be a self-starter with a high level of initiative and enthusiasm, and be able to support and lead staff.

What We Require:

Prefer a Health Background ie: Nursing or Allied Health

Experience in the Disability sector or Short-Term Accommodation experience

Level 2 First Aid

Working with Children Check

Full Driver’s Licence

NDIS Worker Screening Check

Service & Business Development Lead

This is a new role!

We are looking for dynamic people who are passionate about supporting people with disability in regional Victoria to live full and independent lives!!

In this role you will:

  • Work with the Executive and service delivery teams to deliver new strategic business opportunities and service enhancements
  • Support the Executive to develop business cases
  • Build strong community partnerships that promote our organisation and opportunities for inclusion of people with disabilities
  • Assist in the creation of marketing resources and implement the marketing strategy
  • Assist in data collection and analysis, report generation and research and evaluation activities.

 We do have a few requirements!  here’s our Key Selection Criteria

  • Academic degree in a relevant field (e.g., business, marketing, health, allied health, social work, project management).
  • Strong communication skills – interpersonal and written
  • Well-developed community connections or networks
  • Sound computer skills and organisational ability
  • Experience in project management would be desirable
  • Ethics and integrity and values driven
  • Solutions-focussed and good team player

NDIS Support Coordinator

Part-Time

A support co-ordinator plays a critical role in supporting participants (and families) to understand their NDIS plans, navigate the NDIS system and the interfaces into the broader system of services and to build their capacity to direct their supports independently over time.

You will work directly with NDIS participants to develop plans to support them to live a fulfilling and meaningful life at home, in the community and achieve their goals.

Using an individualised approach, you will explore/investigate and coordinate a variety of services for participants, by facilitating effective working relationships and communications with the carers, family, external services, and other key stakeholders to help provide the most well-rounded support available.

This is a Part time role based in our Yarrawonga Office and reports directly to the CEO.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Tertiary qualification and/or significant experience working in the Community Services sector (Disability, Mental Health, Housing, Justice)
  • NDIS awareness, particularly in relation to support coordination and the importance of choice and control for participants.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop networks and positive relationships with a range of participants, their families, and their service providers.
  • Well-developed communication (both oral and written) skills with the ability to prepare reports and correspondence in clear and concise language to deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an understanding of diversity when working with participants and colleagues alongside great negotiation and conflict resolutions skills.
